My emotions are so jumbled
How could this happen
With many warnings
Help wanted
Levees not strong enough
All in the city knew
Requested assistance
Denied

What has this nation come too
When cities are left
Cities filled with our people
Left to fend on their own
Left on roofs
Left dead in the streets

So easy to blame the government
But is it not us
Who are supposed to keep them in check
Our humanity lost
Washed away like the water
That poured from the sky
