Rant!!!!!!!!

I am soooooo frustrated! I have a nine year old son who is in the 4th grade. We live in a school district that believes heavily in home learning. This means that my children get home work every night, Mon-Thursday. Ok I have accepted this, I also have a 14 year old so I have gotten some what used to this............BUT!!! I am so absolutely enraged at what has been happening with my son that I want to screaam, which I just did to my husband!!!! I took him outside as soon as he got home, away from my kids and ranted and raved for about 10 minutes!!!!
(Poor GUY!)

The rule of thumb is 10 minutes of home work per each school year the child is in. Ok, that would mean 40 minutes of home work for my 4th grader. Well, the last three weeks something has happened and he has been bringing home so much homework it takes him on an average of 2 and a half hours to get it all done!!!! Some nights he has been working for over 4 hours on his work and is in tears because he is so tired and frustrated-BUT he feels he must get it ALL done.

This week is the icing on the cake, he has a oral report due on Friday about any famous person of his choice. He did his research and decided on Abraham Lincoln. I can handle that, a project to do at home, that is fine, BUT for the last two nights he has brought home packets that are 17-18 PAGES!!!! When does she expect us to do this report that is due on Friday?? OMG!! The packets contain information about the food chain, energy from the sun, helping plants, feeding prey and predators and decomposers. Now I am teaching him this information. Is she in a panic because she did not budget out her time well??? Why is he getting home work that takes him 3 hours a night??? I am sending a letter with him tomorrow. He will not be able to do any outside homework if he is to get done the Abraham Lincoln report by Friday. That is it, Iam done and it has gone on far too long.

The President is Coming

Who the hell cares???? My city is all in a flurry.......getting ready for his arrival.

I do not care that he came here, all I cared about was, will they inturupt All My Children today? Erica and Jack said their wedding vows in Bocca Roton and I did not want to miss it!!!

I almost made a sign and was going to stand where his motorcade would pass I used Rosie as inspiration

Crystal Gems

I have always loved gems, I mean what girl doesn't? They are colorful and sparkle!! I think I have found my favorite recently.

The Herkimer Diamond, it was formed millions of years ago in Upstate New York, about 2 hours from where I live. I took my kids there to mine for them and we had a blast! Herks are crystal quartz stones that are formed with double termination, meaning when they were formed they are actually in the shape of a cut diamond! You have to pound rocks open to find the little gems, or at the mines you can even find them on the ground!

They say that they are a healing crystal, they give and take because of their pointed shape. I am not sure of any power they hold, but do know I am certainly captivated by them. I have been searching and buying them like crazy lately!! I love to look at them, run my hand over them and see them sparkle like stars! I thought I had lost my little bag of them last night and was almost in tears!! So who knows, maybe they do hold some kind of power?

They shine so bright I was inspired and decided to use them in my art work.

These are sun catchers, I have made several and tell the person:

This is so the moon and stars are watching over you at all times!!

Farewell Vonzell!

Baby V!!!!! Oh my I was so sad this week when you had to leave!! I think you are one of the most beautiful girl I have ever seen! When you dress in the gowns, OMG!!! You look like a Goddess! Perfect weight, height, your cheek bones and smile!!! Every week I would say, if she doesn't make it to the end of AI, she could be a model for sure!!!

I was not sure of your singing ability in the beginning, it seemed you really struggled in the first few weeks. But right around the 3rd or 4th week.....you blossomed and sounded wonderful! Then after that you hit your stride and were just awesome!!!

You started out as fragile spring tulip
Strong enough to push through the ground
And the rest of the competition
You ended as a full blown tulip
Reaching for the sky!!!

Good Luck with EVERYTHING you do!

America

Am I the only one who is upset with our foreign policy? OMG!! If anything else happens I think I will scream!!!! First, the insane rantings of our president leads us to attack a nation, now over 2 years later, still killing innocent people, bombing the hell out of Iraq. The whole idea that "they" must live like us is so un American it is pathetic!!! I was taught that America was land of the free, home of the brave, is it brave to attack another nation? Now with the prison scandals coming out left and right....OMG I am so upset with our Armed Forces. I was never a big fan of the forces, never would sign myself up or even encourage someone too, but I have seen some great documentaries on PBS about troops is Iraq. I began to see that they are just young men and woman trying to fight for their lives, they didn't really choose to go to Iraq, it was assigned to them. But I am so torn, you see the little magnets on everyone's car "Support the Troops" How can I support them? They are so wrong with their actions.

I was in a chatroom the other night, the topic came up about NYers being arrogant, I took offence because I am a NYer. Then of course the bad names about "Yanks" Well to the rest of the world we are all Yanks, all Americans are Yanks no matter what state you live in. When I pointed this out I was bombarded with statement like...."who cares what the rest of the world thinks?" OMG!!!!!!!! I wanted to scream........You are the ones being Arrogant!!!!!!

Lorenzo

He was born in a hospital in December 2004 and abandoned hours later. His mother knew she couldn't do it, she was smart and brave, she didn't take the easy way out, putting him in a trash dumpster after his birth.

Now: Cut to my sister, who is 5 years younger than myself, had one baby 10 years ago, a growing wonderful boy but no longer a baby! "I really want another baby, Lisa"- she would say to me. That strong urge, the calling of your womb that can not be silenced. I was in a different place, I had two kids that kept me spinning, but I would encourage her, look into adoption, look into foster care. Adoption-way to expensive, foster care yes! So she took the classes, she allowed them to come into her home for their approval visits. She put down on her application, I am willing to take 1 month olds to three years old, then she prayed. Prayed and waited, waited and prayed, one year later she got the call, a little 7 month old boy needs a home. A little brown skinned beauty, with a huge smile. The day she picked him up I was at her home. I walked in saw him and said, "well hello little one" The biggest smile of gums you could imagine!! He is Latino, we are white, she hears "Whose baby is this??" ALL the time! She smiles and answers, He is mine!!! The steps of final adoption are in place.
The greatest gift to our entire family! A blessing of great proportion! This little gem of a boy has transformed her family, her 10 year old is the big brother and LOVES it! My kids are so happy to have a new cousin and of course I am the proudest Auntie!!!

Now: A note to his birth mother.......
Thank You so much! Thank you for knowing you could not do it, thank you for realizing that he could have a better life with someone else, thank you for this wonderful gift to our family!!
We love him so much!!!

Bulldogs

I live with 4 bulldogs. My passion started 13 years ago when my hubby wanted one. We bought Cookie, she was an older dog and she looked liked a little Gramma! I feel in love, I had always been a dog person but this breed was just so sweet! Bulldogs love humans, they want to be with you and think they are a lap dog! Giving the average weight of about 50 pounds, you need a big lap! In 1995 we got Kelly, we flew her in from across the country when she was about 16 weeks old. I will never forget the day we picked her from the airport. When we arrived home we let her out of her little cage to investigate our back yard and she ran around like a little munchkin!!! We had rescued her from that experience of being in the cage under an airplane and that was it: Love at first sight!!! We presently have Macey her daughter and Lulu her granddaughter, but Kelly has crossed the rainbow bridge.
Bulldogs are lazy, they love to sleep and snore the day and night away!! In the evening if you are at my house, good luck in getting a seat!! Bulldogs heart makes up for their looks!!! I tell people if you can get passed their face you can fall in love with them, everyone says their face? What about the noises they make? Yes, bulldogs do make a lot of noise, they breath heavy in the heat, they snore and even are famous for farting!

Springtime

Everyone knows the little ditty, April Showers Bring May Flowers, but the way my twisted mind works- I would say it and then ask myself what do May flowers bring? So one day I sat down and finished it!

April Showers Bring May Flowers
But What do May Flowers Bring?
Beautiful Hues of Glorious Blooms
That's what May Flowers Bring!

Magnolia's

There is a street in my city, Oxford Street. On this street there are over 150 magnolia trees! Every year I take my kids to see the beautiful blooming wonders! The past two years my daughter who is a teenagers does not go, but I still have my 9 year old son that is always excited about seeing them! They kinda give me hope the mags, they bloom each year, no matter what! They are faithful and true! No matter how I feel when I go, I always feel better after visiting the scented beauties!
I have pictures but do not know how to put them up!! :(

Neat Story

Something really cool happened to me yesterday. I was driving in my car about 6 o'clock in the morning in the small town I grew up in. I saw a robin standing on the side of the road, just standing there....I thought it strange that he wasn't doing the normal "robin" things, running and hopping away from the traffic. Have you ever noticed that robins are great runners? So I went by him and then turned around and went back. I slowly pulled up next to him and again he just stood there, I had my window down so I said to him, "what's going on little one?" He just stood there and looked at me! I opened my car door, still just stood there, walked over to him, just stood still, so I bent down and picked him up!! I held him , talked and soothed him, checked his body and wings. He looked fine, no bleeding or anything. I figured he was shock. I cradled him in my arm and got back in the car. When I was driving away I saw a dead female laying just ahead of him, oh his mate? His mother? So he went on the road with me, I had more of my work to finish up. I carried him in my left arm and continued working with my right! I told him he was going to be alright and things were going to be fine. So after about 15 minutes I put him on the passenger seat next to me and still was just talking to him. Me and Robin just hanging out on a sunny morning! Well all of a sudden he panicked! "OMG!!! What am I doing in this car with this woman???" Quickly I slowed down, scooped him up and brought him out to the country fence I was passing. "Here ya go little man, you'll be fine now." The little Robin man did not fly away, he jumped off the bottom rung of the wooden fence and RAN away from me!!! :)
